A Texarkana non-profit, Bridging the Gaps of Arkansas, is working to boost student participation in the Arkansas Prevention Needs Assessment survey. This survey, started in 2002 and funded by the Arkansas Department of Human Services, collects anonymous data on substance use among students in grades 6, 8, 10, and 12. The information helps schools understand trends in vaping, alcohol, and drug use, providing essential data for substance abuse prevention efforts.

Lititia Rankin, Substance Misuse Prevention Coordinator, says this data guides the organization’s support and funding for prevention education in specific areas. Schools in southwest Arkansas can register for the survey until Friday. For more information, contact Lititia Rankin at 903-276-0987.
