The Texarkana Texas Police Department arrested 28-year-old Des Abner earlier yesterday on W. 38th Street. Officers noticed Abner walking in the roadway and attempted to speak with him. When he ignored their requests to stop, officers recognized him from past incidents involving evasion and became concerned he might flee again.
Despite multiple commands to stop, Abner continued walking away. Officers deployed two rounds of JPX pepper spray to stop him. As Abner tried to run, he tripped and was quickly apprehended. During the arrest, officers discovered that Abner was carrying a handgun reported stolen in Magnolia, Arkansas.
Abner was taken to the Bi-State Jail and faces charges of Theft of a Firearm, Evading Arrest with Previous Conviction, and Walking in the Roadway. Bond for the two felony charges has not yet been set.
