The Texarkana Arkansas Recreation Center has a range of free programs for the community, including chair exercise classes on Mondays and Thursdays from 2 to 3 p.m., led by an instructor from the University of Arkansas. The center also runs an after-school program for kids aged 6 to 8, featuring tutoring by volunteers.
Tuesdays bring Tai Chi classes, and a Fabric Shop quilting and sewing class where attendees can bring their own sewing machines. A basketball skills-building class is also available.
Annual family memberships are $30, with scholarships for low-income residents. The center, located at #1 Legion Drive, welcomes everyone from both sides of the Arkansas-Texas line. Visit Texarkana Parks and Rec’s website or Facebook page for the latest schedule.
