Texarkana Regional Airport Recieves 2.1 Million in Funding

The Texarkana Regional Airport is set to receive over $2.1 million from the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program.

The Texarkana Regional Airport (TXK) is set to receive over $2.1 million from the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program (AIP). These funds will be used to expand the aircraft apron at the Jim E. Yates terminal, allowing planes to divert to Texarkana during bad weather in Dallas and providing overnight parking space for aircraft. The project will also receive a grant from the Arkansas Division of Aeronautics, covering the local matching requirement.

Airport Executive Director Paul Mehrlich expressed pride in the partnerships with state and federal governments, emphasizing the positive economic impact on the local community. Of the total funds, $1.18 million will come from highly competitive discretionary funds.

The AIP provides grants for airport infrastructure, including terminals, runways, and firefighting equipment. This year, the FAA announced $636.1 million in grants as part of the program’s annual $3.3 billion funding
