Texarkana, Texas, is on the lookout for talented artists to adorn the Texarkana Arts and Historic District with captivating artwork.
Local or regional artists are invited to submit proposals, with each selected artist eligible for up to $4,000 to bring their project to life.
The proposals can encompass a range of mediums, including iron or wood sculptures, interactive installations, landscape architecture, community art, or murals.
Brook Stone, the city’s spokesperson, highlights the importance of these artworks in fostering dialogue among people from diverse backgrounds. Previous murals funded by the Arts and Historic District’s budget have already contributed to this conversation.
We have a rich tapestry of murals downtown that spark conversations among people of various backgrounds. We’re eager to expand this and have artwork that reflects our downtown’s history,” said Stone.
The winning design will be chosen by the city’s Arts and Historic Committee. Submissions are due by May 1 and should include contact details, a visual representation of the proposed artwork, a cover letter, and a portfolio showcasing past projects.
For further details or to submit a proposal, interested artists can reach out to Stone at (903) 798-3901 or via email at brooke.stone@texarkanatexas.gov.
