A Texarkana woman, Nickie Mattison, has been sentenced to 17 years in federal prison for distributing counterfeit oxycontin pills laced with fentanyl, leading to multiple deaths.
Mattison pleaded guilty on Wednesday to possessing fentanyl with the intent to distribute. From September 2021 to August 2022, she was involved in a drug distribution operation that resulted in three overdose deaths and one serious injury.
The arrests were made as part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces operation aimed at dismantling the drug trafficking ring.
Two other defendants, Courtney Lewis and Darrell Trotter, received sentences of 10 and 14 years, respectively. Meanwhile, Christopher Candelaria and Kolton Saulsbury have also pleaded guilty and are awaiting sentencing.
