Texas A&M University-Texarkana (TAMUT) has appointed Pete Mann as its new Chief of Police. Mann was officially sworn in by TAMUT President Dr. Ross Alexander in a ceremony held on Friday, November 1, 2024.
Chief Mann brings extensive experience in law enforcement, having served in both the Texarkana Arkansas and Texas Police Departments and recently as the Chief of Pleasant Grove ISD’s Police Department. His career began in California, and he also has a background in military security, having served as a Security Policeman in the U.S. Air Force.
President Alexander praised Mann’s qualifications, emphasizing the importance of safety for the university community. Chief Mann expressed his excitement about joining TAMUT, citing the university’s growth and positive work environment.
The TAMUT Police Department operates year-round and earned re-accreditation in 2023 from the Texas Police Chief’s Association, a distinction held by fewer than 200 of Texas’s 2,800 law enforcement agencies.
