TISD Board Appoints Pastor Ronald Ruffin to District 2 Seat

During a special session on September 12, the Texarkana Independent School District (TISD) Board of Trustees unanimously appointed Pastor Ronald Ruffin to fill the District 2 seat left vacant by the late Mr. Gerald Brooks, who passed away in July. Pastor Ruffin will serve the remainder of the term until the next board election.

A longtime resident of District 2 and a Texas High alumnus, Pastor Ruffin brings over 20 years of service at Red River Army Depot and six years as Vice President of the NAACP Texarkana Branch. He has also served as the Pastor of Greater Saint John Baptist Church for more than 35 years and as Dean of Christian Education at the Zion District Congress of Christian Education.

Pastor Ruffin expressed his commitment to continuing the legacy of Mr. Brooks, focusing on the needs of students and supporting the district’s mission of student success.
