The Tough Kookie Foundation began distributing shirts Tuesday (Oct. 15) for its annual cancer race and walk, set for Saturday (Oct. 19) at Texas A&M University-Texarkana. Founder Katina Levingston expects around 1,500 participants this year, with a fundraising goal of $176,000.
“All the money we raise stays right here in Texarkana,” said Levingston, a cancer survivor. The foundation provides free services like mammograms, ultrasounds, breast MRIs, wigs, bras, sleeves, and mental health support.
Opening ceremonies begin at 8 a.m. Saturday. The group has raised $250,000 over the past three years, aiding over 5,000 survivors.
