The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will begin resurfacing sections of Farm to Market Road 989, also known as Kings Highway, in Bowie County in January 2025. The $2.4 million project, awarded to RK Hall, LLC, will stretch from just south of US Highway 67 to north of US Highway 59.
All lanes will receive new asphalt pavement and markings, with safety upgrades to guardrails and end treatments, according to Texarkana Area Engineer Tommy Bruce. The work is expected to last about five months, though completion could be delayed by weather or other factors.
