A Nash Officer came across Steven Burton while searching for some used tires. Burton had quite the stock listed on an online marketplace, and what’s interesting is the backdrop in his photos looked suspiciously like the back lot of a local tire shop. Their detective dug deeper and found Burton making frequent visits to the store after hours, conducting some rather shady sales behind the scenes.

After gathering evidence, they decided to kick off operation “Notsosmart.” Burton, seemingly eager to offload more tires, took the bait when officers from both Nash PD and Wake Village  department struck a deal with him. They conveniently forgot to mention the felony warrant looming over his head. But Burton’s hunger for cash outweighed his caution, and he showed up as planned. Imagine his surprise when instead of buyers, he found himself facing a fleet of marked patrol cars.

Burton’s now in custody, and we’ve recovered plenty of stolen tires from his car. He’s got some time to mull over his choices in Bi-State. If you’ve recently purchased tires from him, give them a call at 903-838-5580.

Let’s hope Burton’s next moves are a bit smarter than his recent ones.
